the Master Vs the Magician...

Tonight's cracker between Man U and Real Madrid will be talk of the day and surely would showcase great footballing techniques and skills unarguably between two biggest clubs in the world according to Sir Alex-the Master, who used his strong eleven against lowly Norwich at the weekend..to avoid another humiliating defeat at their hands because once beaten twice shy...and it worked as Kagawa and Rooney destroyed Norwich with a 4-0 thumping; whereas Mourinho-the Magician, showed his preference lagging behind in the league opted to rest the talisman  C.Ronaldo plus other regulars against faltering Barca and with his magic wand it worked!; Barcelona with the 'mighty' Messi were defeated again by Real twice in 5 days....
coming to brass task, United have the away goal advantage but Mourinho thinks otherwise, saying that the game is still 50-50 mmmh it is really difficult to predict where this tie will tend considering that the two teams have maintained good form in their domestic matches.

who do you put your money on ? the magician who does some crazy formation like playing Pepe in the midfield while Essien does defensive work...don't be surprised if he decides to use Casilas as a striker one day lol...or the Master who has won everything, age is nothing to him might even retire the same day with Jose, he doesn't mess with paraphernalia like giving Giggs his 1000th at the expense of winning? no he might put the old guard on the bench....for me, I will go for a Madrid show why?  because they beat Barcelona TWICE in a week!

Arsenal desolate...

Colin Kazim-Richards 's  goal ensured that Arsenal fans will have to hope for another season for a glimpse of a silver ware coming to the Emirate(...except they win Champions league mmmh!) ...It was an abysmal performance from their front men Gervinho and Giroud; who failed to convert their chances after dominating Blackburn for most part of the game...even when Arsene Wenger brought out his '3 musketeers ' (Wilshere , Cazorla , Walcott ) he was saving for the champions league..the story remained same with the Championship side  defending with all they have...
No FA Cup, Capital one cup, the League is far fetched and so Arsenal fans will hope to beat Baryern Munich come Tuesday to avert another trophy-less season extending to 8 consecutive season!

what Mancity are missing....in Balotelli

It's now 4 goals in 3 matches for Mario Balotelli starring for AC Milan just weeks after City let him go...his free kick goal was fantastic against Parma last night and believe it or not Mario will hit his best form in AC Milan shirt where criticism on him will be less about his outfield activities...Will Mancini regret allowing him leave Manchester?..

Happy Valentine's day....

Peter Osaze Odemwingie forgiven...

The 'bad boy' Osaze Odemwingie has been told he will still play a part in the remaining matches of the season by his club West broom, after being left out, punished and stigmatized few weeks ago following his botched move to QPR when he drove himself to Loftus road demanding to be transferred...
Team mates have been speaking good of his return after the Nigerian was allowed as a spectator on the Abion's bench at Anfield where they defeated Liverpool by 2-0...
Now his pride has been bruised both abroad and at home...(Super Eagles won AFCON without him ), hope he will calm down and Twit with some caution.

Keshi rescinds decision returns with the Eagles Adenuga takes over...

The Nigeria AFCON gold  winning coach Keshi returned to the country with his team the Super Eagles yesterday and met a loud  reception by Nigerians, hours after the news came that he has withdrawn the resignation letter mmh...he must have been convinced by top men in the government to rescind his earlier decision; and this is a good opportunity for him to get all what he's been lacking since his appointment, status car, residential apartment ...
Rumor has it that the philanthropist billionaire of GLO Chief Mike Adenuga  overwhelmed by the joy of the Super Eagles winning the African Cup of Nations after 19 years of futile attempts; has  added a Range Rover Sport and Posh Apartment in Lagos, in addition to the $200,000 he gave to Keshi!...what a good Valentine gift for this man...well deserved.

He has also promised to take over from the NFF the payment of Keshi's Monthly salary from the month of March, 2013....if this is true let's see how it goes.

Champions league...the last card for Mourinho

Real Madrid  Vs Manchester United: Come Wednesday Mourinho's future with Real Madrid might be redefined by the outcome of this match, having gone far behind Barca in the domestic league... expect the special one's boys  to fire from all cylinders to keep their manager in the game; Jose will prove that he's one of the best coaches in this era with an eye to succeeding Sir Alex in the future...on the other hand, Sir Alex is talking tough on the encounter...
And the Madrid talisman C.Ronaldo will lead the assault against his former club.expect a cracker!

Breaking news on Keshi...

Is it bowing out when the ovation is loudest? or a threat to ask for some increment? ..your guess is as good as mine; but the breaking news remains that the Nigerian coach who guided the Super Eagles just yesterday  to AFCON and won the gold cup in the finals, Stephen Okechukwu Keshi has resigned!....he did say he would even before the final match against Burkina Faso, considering the lack of support and faith he received from Nigerians...am sure the Nigeria soccer power house 'glass house' will do all they can to retain him, begging him to rescind his decision will be interesting in the week ahead....

Home boy Mba Sunday ensured Nigeria is crowned African champions!...

The Nigerian Super Eagles have been crowned the African Champions in Johannesburg after beating Burkina Faso by a lone goal in the final...home based midfielder Mba scored from a wonderful effort in the first half which was enough to hand Nigeria the trophy for the third time..
The Super Eagles are back ! and super!

Ghana gone empty handed!

The Malians took over from where Burkina faso left to humiliate the Black Stars!..One of the favourites to win the AFCON saw themselves mesmerized with a 3-1 drubbing in the AFCON 3rd place game
Gyan was like a passenger on the pitch lacking pace and creativity while the high performing Wakaso missed an opportunity to retain the golden boot when he missed from the penalty spot. Appiah the Ghanaian head coach looked more confused on the sidelines with his substitution yielding no results…but take nothing away from the late strike from Kwadwo Asamoah, the Juventus man fired in from some distance one of the best goals as the Malian keeper  dramatically went to the opposite side as the shot riffles the net..

Manchester City comedy show...

Joe- down and beaten thrice!

The Southampton boys at St Mary's capitalized on the errors starring Barry and goalkeeper Hart...
Barry after losing possession that led to Southampton’s first goal also scored an own goal while England number one Joe Hart let his catch slip off for the second goal...Edin Dzeko pulled one back as a consolation…
This result 3-1 looks like the Champion's are out of the title race...

How criticism helped Keshi...

Criticism started from the time he was dropped in favour of Samson Siasia as Nigerian national team coach, he remained unperturbed despite possessing greater credentials than the former; but Siasia lasted only for a short period after an unsuccessful campaign judged by non qualification to 2012 AFCON giving way for the emergence of the 'big boss' Stephen keshi as Super Eagles coach and the criticism continued...

Stephen Keshi's supposed attitude when he captained the Super Eagles was part of the debate on how he will fare as the head coach of Nigerian national team, some school of thoughts believed he will be a failure having led a faction of the successful '94 AFCON winning team and that he would also fail to form a peaceful team beign a biased person..I do not agree.

Amidst the chaos left by Siasia  with some players like Osaze, Mikel, Enyema and co, beign labelled as rebels who ensured that he (Siasia) did not succeed by being unmanageable and haughty;
the football governing body NFF NFA or the Sports ministry (whoever is in charge ) that waded into the disciplinary crises that rocked AFCON 2012 last qualification match against Guinea by demanding personal apologies from the so called disobedient players, gave Keshi the same Semi finals target as a criteria for retaining his job as coach...

Last week hottest news ...

David Beckham got more offers @ 37 years greater than when he was 27!...finally settled for PSG in the French league but surprisingly not for their big money as he will donate all his supposed earnings to charity...thumps up!

Mario Balotelli scored a brace on his debut for AC Milan...Mancini wanted to frustrate this talent! keeping him on the bench... and the English press will miss his news...

Nigeria beat the AFCON favourites Cote d'ivoire convincingly..the so called golden generation with big names like Drogba, Yaya, Gervinho and Kalou...will have to wait for another 2 good years....

Transfer deadline, Mario moves...

Balotelli out of Mancity to AC Milan, the famous Italian is on his way back to his country where he started with Inter as a youngster...his country man Mancini has been unable to manage and hold the volatile striker who played 79 matches for City and scored 29 goals,,,and he will surely be missed by uk newspapers....

AFCON 2013 full of draws...

It has been a tournament of 'draws' so far, so if you want to bet on the next group games you better go for at least another draw!
With the exception of Mali vs Niger game, five out of the six games played have ended in a draw with only nine goals scored four was in a single match!; does this mean that Africa is lacking good strikers?
Tomorrow will see undoubtedly, Africa's best strikers in action in the name of Drogba and Adebayo and hopefully the tournament might lighten up...

Nigeria 1-1 Burkina Faso
Zambia 1-1 Ethiopia
Mali 1-0 Niger
Ghana 2-2 Congo DR
Angola 0-0 Morocco
South Africa 0-0 Cape Verde

Tomorrow:
  • Ivory CoastvTogo15:00
  • TunisiavAlgeria18:00

next on the AFCON

Nothing could separate the teams in Group A after the two matches played on the first day of AFCON in South Africa ended in barren draws...South Africa 0-0 Cape Verde, Angola 0-0 Morocco
hostilities resumes today in group B...who will get the first goal of the tournament??

20 Jan, 15:00
Ghana v Congo DR
20 Jan, 18:00

21 Jan, 15:00
21 Jan, 18:00

what will be the colour of London come morrow?

It will be a Super Sunday with two London teams who have potpourri of coaching brouhaha...
Chelsea  vs Arsenal the London derby.....
Chelsea coming from the disappointment of giving away a 2 goal lead to draw with Southampton amid the fans dislike and distaste on their coach and top striker Benitez and Torres respectively; considering the dwindling results at home Chelsea might not cruise home easily with a win in this one...

On the other hand Arsenal whose coach has also been strongly criticised for lack of trophies for over a decade will have a 50-50 chance of redeeming themselves at the bridge....I will go for a draw.

Kickoff: 13:30 Local  time (London).
