AFCON 2013 full of draws...

It has been a tournament of 'draws' so far, so if you want to bet on the next group games you better go for at least another draw!
With the exception of Mali vs Niger game, five out of the six games played have ended in a draw with only nine goals scored four was in a single match!; does this mean that Africa is lacking good strikers?
Tomorrow will see undoubtedly, Africa's best strikers in action in the name of Drogba and Adebayo and hopefully the tournament might lighten up...

Nigeria 1-1 Burkina Faso
Zambia 1-1 Ethiopia
Mali 1-0 Niger
Ghana 2-2 Congo DR
Angola 0-0 Morocco
South Africa 0-0 Cape Verde

Tomorrow:
  • Ivory CoastvTogo15:00
  • TunisiavAlgeria18:00

21 Jan, 15:00

what will be the colour of London come morrow?

It will be a Super Sunday with two London teams who have potpourri of coaching brouhaha...
Chelsea  vs Arsenal the London derby.....
Chelsea coming from the disappointment of giving away a 2 goal lead to draw with Southampton amid the fans dislike and distaste on their coach and top striker Benitez and Torres respectively; considering the dwindling results at home Chelsea might not cruise home easily with a win in this one...

On the other hand Arsenal whose coach has also been strongly criticised for lack of trophies for over a decade will have a 50-50 chance of redeeming themselves at the bridge....I will go for a draw.

Kickoff: 13:30 Local  time (London).

Southampton coach sacked after drawing with Chelsea

In a bizarre fashion newly promoted clubside Southampton have sacked their coach few days after securing a fantastic come back 2-2 draw against Chelsea away @ Stamford Bridge..Manager Nigel Adkins guided Southampton all the way from league one, championship and to the Premiership in just two years!...alas his efforts in the Premiership have not been seen as promising by the club owners who have decided to appoint another coach Pochettino  with Southampton on 15th position in the league table....shocking decision!

Shocker! Pep abandons English Clubs...

sorry guys!...is simply my choice ....lol
In a very bizarre fashion after report of the erstwhile Barcelona's coach declaring his affection for English soccer clubs...Bayern Munich of Germany has beaten the likes of Chelsea, Mancity & United to sign the runaway Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola for a 3 year contract!....whao! who is not shocked by this...it is like a coup d'Etat...

The big question now is what will the Chelsea owner do after sacking his champions League winning coach Di Matteo and appointed Benitez on an interim basis in order to create room for Pep who has caused a big shocker in this transfer window...
The 41 year old will star for the German club as their manager come next season!

Battle for Pep Guardiola..who 'll grab him eventually?

a wanted man
The erstwhile Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola has narrowed the quest for clubs looking for his services when he wakes up from his self styled vacation. The 41 year old declared his interest to coach only in England by saying "I've always found English football very fascinating, just for the environment, the crowd and the supporters," and  "It is unique, to play in that league. I want to feel the supporters, the environment, the media and the style of the players and everything.

he also said in quote: "As a player, I couldn't realize my dream to play there but I hope in the future, I have a challenge to be a coach or a manager there and feel the experience of all the coaches and players that have been there," ...mmmh! now the battle line is drawn between top English  clubs, who have been touting to land the man who bowed to the pressure of El Classico....maybe English derbies won't be as hot as El Classicos...

  • Chelsea FC - The billionaire owner has been searching for Guadiola even before he resigned from Barcelona FC; but his history of sacking his coaches frequently might discourage Pep from taking his family to west London...
  • Manchester City- No doubt that they can compete with Chelsea  money for money but no pressure has been reported on their coach Mancini who has not been having good tournament results, City is out of all European tournaments this season and are second in the premiership log...
  • Manchester United -Manchester united will be a nice place for Pep to flex his coaching prowess again, but the big question is..when is Sir Alex retiring???
or what do you think?

Walters with his worst nightmare in a football...

shh! if you complain I 'll score more...lol
Jonathan Walters is one of Stoke City's preferred attackers this season in fact he's Stoke's top scorer! and has played well whenever he starts but today in a match against Chelsea was unarguably his worst day in a football tournament...to cut the long story short, Walters scored two own goals with his head while facing his own goal post...what was he doing in the defence anyway?...and when a consolatory fortune came to Stoke to get one goal back, the same Walters asked for the ball, took the penalty alas missed it! what else can go wrong?...he would have loved the ground to swallow him at different moment ...what could have been his excuse for these mistakes?...match fixing? far from it! considering his work rate in the whole 90 minutes. This could go down as one of the worst nightmare experienced by a player in a football match.

what different people twitted about #Walters after the match:

AFCON 2013 takes away 15 English Premiership players

AFCON 2013 takes away 15 English Premiership players, the tournament is due to start on the 19th of January 2013 besides they are notable absentees who chose to play for their clubs instead...Tarrabt, Piennar, Amaeobi...
Manchester City tops the loser's chat on this, loosing 3 players Chelsea follows with 2; while a top team like Manchester united  has no African player for AFCON2013...the reason their Manager don't buy African players any more...
COTE D'VOIRE caused the highest exodus with 6 of their players leaving the premiership....

Torres back to Liverpool?

If his wish is real and If  the owner is ready to let his favourite acquisition have his way Torres will find his car heading back to Liverpool picking up the Red shirt he jettisoned; hope it isn't dusty much.. It has been reported that the inconsistent Chelsea striker is 'disinterested in training' despite his favourite boss Rafa @ the helm of affairs.
His attitude in training has angered the old guard @ Stamford Bridge as reported by the Mirror....
Some Chelsea fans would be more than happy if this happens! after they booed him off during the Swansea match.

Pep Guardiola refused to shake Ronaldo's hand.

Pep Guardiola at the Ballon d'Or added to Critiano Ronaldo's woes as he snubbed the Real Madrid star when a hand shake was offered...mmh! what a Barca-Madrid rivalry renewal!; though seems childish from the ex-manager... Ronaldo has now stood a record four times along side Messi but only to watch the little looking Barca star stole the show again and again and again as the best player in the world; winning the Ballon d'Or a record 4 times in a row. Messi won this again at the back drop of his team missing both the La Liga title and the Champions League, and considering how prolific he has been this season, I don't think people will get any intrigue in the next Ballon d'Or award; knowing that it will always be Messi's...it is becoming boring!

Jan transfers...Torres goes to the bench

Chelsea complete signing of Demba Ba from Newcastle United with striker describing move as 'easy decision'

at least this buy will put a smile on Chelsea fans as well as the coaching crew to see Torres substituted when under performing and serves as another option for the manager; Demba Ba earning around 70,000 pounds (little compared to Torres')  may not be as hyped as Torres but he has shown what he's capable of doing in West Ham and Newcastle as well...a good buy in many sense.

Super Eagles wins a trophy....

It might sound bizarre that after securing a draw a team was rewarded with a trophy yeah!  but this is what happened when majorly home based super Eagles defended well to earn a 1-1 draw against a highly rated Spanish regional side Catalonia yesterday; who paraded stars from Barcelona, Ac Milan and Espanyol...
The Cruyff's side capitalized with their huge pressure and ball possession in the first half when a Nigerian defender handled in the box for a penalty which was converted by Gonzalez.
The likes of Puyol, Xavi , Pique,& Bojan were the stars that played but the story changed in the second half when Nigeria turned their good defensive effort into a counter attack that saw Bright Dike score the equaliser for the Super Eagles. Chigozie Agbim 3rd choice keeper, Azubuike Egwueke, Solomon Kwambe, Azubuike, onazi, Godfrey Oboabuna and Benjamin Francis were among the home based players that did the good work for Keshi's side.As the tradition demands Nigeria the away team was awarded the trophy of the Match and the Super Eagles celebrated it as if they have won the AFCON already....lol

Benitez's bizarre rotation policy gifted QPR a shocking win!

happy new year blues...sobs!
It was an unexpected Christmas and a new year gift to Redknapp's team when QPR recorded their second win this season in a London derby ,Shaun WP..(4 short) fired past Ross in the Chelsea's goal to lift QPR's hope of surviving the relegation battle...most Chelsea fans continued to call for the head of their interim coach Benitez with invective after his rotation policy saw him mete a strange starting line up at Stamford Bridge allowing QPR break their >30 years record of not winning at the Bridge. The likes of Hazard, Mata,Cole, and Ramires were benched by Rafa while Marin was given his first start with Luiz continuing his experiment as a defensive midfielder;and he was constantly off his position and was running helter skelter all through...Mikel doesn't score and does lots of back passes but could have articulated the middle better than Luiz yesterday...what do u think?
Torres as expected did not help matters was flat footed wasteful with passes and lacked confidence and composure.
Chelsea's hope of chasing  the Manchester boys has been deflated....
